Privacy
These notes describe the current Glint desktop app and this preview website. The app and the website use information differently.
The app
- The app has no account, sign-in or analytics.
- Glint reads the song title, artist, album, length and cover art from Windows media controls. This information stays on your PC, except for lyric lookups.
- Lyric lookups send the title, artist, album when known, and length to lrclib.net and music.163.com (NetEase Cloud Music). These services have their own privacy practices.
- To move the light with the beat, Glint analyzes your PC's sound output, not the microphone. This happens while lyrics mode is open and music is playing. Glint turns sound into loudness and beat numbers. No audio is saved or sent.
- Settings stay in
settings.jsonin the app's configuration folder on your PC. Lyrics stay in memory while Glint runs and are not written to disk. - Glint can change Windows volume through its volume controls. It can press Spotify's shuffle and repeat shortcuts when you click those buttons in Glint.
- Starting at sign-in is optional and off by default.
- The installer can download Microsoft's WebView2 component if your PC does not have it.
This website
Vercel hosts this website. It receives your IP address, browser information and request details when your browser requests pages or files. Vercel can keep this information in service and security logs. The operator has not confirmed the retention periods for these logs. Vercel handles them under its own policies, including the Vercel privacy policy.
Glint does not run an analytics or advertising service on this site. There are no contact forms, accounts or payments. Fonts, icons and the visual demo are served from this site. The visual demo uses original text. The site does not host copied third-party recordings or song lyrics.
Your choices and cookies
A cookie is a small value that your browser stores for a site. This site does not write its cookies until you make a privacy choice.
The glint_consent cookie records your explicit choice for 180 days, including a rejection of optional features. It is needed to remember that choice. If you allow preference storage, glint_player remembers your song selection, visual style and icon setting for 180 days. These cookies contain no personal identifier.
Preference storage and Spotify external content are separate choices. Both start off. Rejecting optional features still lets you browse the site and use its visual demo. See the cookie notice for the cookie details.
Optional Spotify players
Official Spotify players load only after you allow Spotify external content. Loading a player sends your IP address, device and browser information to Spotify. Spotify can use its own and third-party cookies. Spotify controls that processing under the Spotify privacy policy.
Playback uses Spotify's service, not a Glint account. Glint does not collect your Spotify credentials. Any sign-in or account controls that Spotify provides belong to Spotify.
Change or withdraw your choice
Open Privacy settings at any time. Turning off Spotify external content removes the embedded player and stops this page from loading another one. Turning off preference storage deletes glint_player. Reject optional turns off both. The consent cookie keeps your updated choice.
Withdrawing consent does not erase information already sent to Spotify. This site cannot delete Spotify's cookies. You can remove them through your browser's site-data controls. Spotify's policy explains its controls for information held by Spotify.
